I was called early Sunday morning by my fellow DJ Sam, he was supposed to be DJ’ing this wedding that afternoon/evening but had a sudden family emergency and asked me if I could cover for him. Even though I had gotten home around 1:30AM that morning from DJ’ing Chris & Holly’s wedding the night before, I said “Of Course!”.
I went into this wedding without any preparation other than reviewing the information Sam had a couple hours before I was due to start. Valentini’s Vicino Lago is a great Italian restaurant along the lake walk in Duluth, MN and is normally closed on Sundays except for private events.
I met Tim & Sarah once they arrived at the restaurant and let them know about Sam’s emergency, and not to worry, they were in great hands (I did earn the title “DJ of the Year 2012” after all!). I also had the benefit of having another fellow DJ, Ian, as one of the goomsmen.
Dinner was delicious, and after Valentini’s staff cleared away several of the tables we had a dance floor! It was a little tight, but it was packed all night. Friends of the bride came up towards the end of the night and thanked me profusely for making Sarah’s day so amazing.
Congrats Tim & Sarah!

I always like DJ’ing weddings at Spirit Mountain, the staff there is great, and it is just a beautiful venue. I did the sound/music for Chris & Holly’s ceremony on the hillside overlooking the bay and Lake Superior. Then we moved inside to the chalet for dinner and dancing all night long.
The people at this reception were amazing, and the dance floor was super packed with well over 100 people. I knew based on music requests that I took during dinner that I needed to play “Paradise by the Dashboard light” by Meatloaf, and when I did the entire place went nuts! Just check out the 2nd part of the video I took during the dance.

I really enjoyed DJ’ing this wedding. The father of the bride was in a band many years ago and recorded a special version of his band singing “my girl” for the father daughter dance. It was also a pretty large group of people and once the dancing started the dance floor was full all night long!
The DECC staff was also excellent as usual, with a delicious meal and friendly bar staff that kept my pitcher of water full all night long (I drank 3 pitchers of water over the course of the night!)

Anna and Casey were married in the Dominican Republic (Destination wedding, AWESOME!) and then threw a big party at Clyde Iron Works for friends and family. It was a pretty big reception, and was definitely a great crowd. I had fellow DJ Julian Williams with me and we had a great time.
The dance floor was packed all night long, and toward the end of the night we switched it up and went into Karaoke Dance Party mode, where guests would sing karaoke and everyone else would dance while they sang.
Here is the review Anna and Casey left for me on weddingchannel.com

Nicolle & Ryan were actually married 3 months ago, and were originally not going to have a wedding reception, but their friends and family convinced them they needed to. So this was a pretty laid back reception, and once the dancing started, it was the “it” party in town!

This family was so much fun! I had brought along extra uplights to decorate the room with and the room looked amazing. I’m pissed that I forgot to take any pictures!
Once the dancing got started, the crowd really got into it. The crowd kept requesting awesome songs and I pretty much played requests all night to a full house.

Fall was the season for weddings at Blackwoods, and winter is the season for weddings at Greysolon Plaza! Ian and Lindsays wedding was so much fun! The dance floor was full all night, and several guests came up to me towards the end of the night to tell me that they had never had a DJ be that much fun at a wedding reception.

Another beautiful wedding ceremony and reception at Greysolon Plaza in the Moorish Room. I did the sound for the ceremony, and then reset everything for the reception and dancing.
It was a good crowd, the bride & groom had a pretty big do-not-play list, but I was able to find plenty of good dancing songs to keep everyone dancing and entertained. 🙂

Blackwoods is really a popular wedding venue this fall! I’ve DJ’ed a bunch of awesome weddings at Blackwoods, and this one was no exception!
The entire wedding party showed up wearing classy masks and the room had a fall/harvest halloween theme. It was really cool, and like usual, the dance floor was PACKED!
I really need to start taking pictures of the weddings I do!
