Kayla & Joe’s Wedding – Superior Shores Resort, Two Harbors MN

This was an AMAZING wedding!  It was a smaller reception, with only 60-70 guests, and they had the ceremony out on the shore of lake superior.  I always love doing weddings at Superior Shores Resort, the staff there are awesome, and it is normally a very beautiful venue for a wedding ceremony and reception.  I set up the sound system and microphones out by the lakeshore, and everything goes well… 99% of the time.

This time, it was a very windy and chilly october day, but the Bride & Groom are both very outdoorsy and insisted that we still do the ceremony outside by the lakeside.  So that’s what we did!  I threw a garbage bag over the speaker to protect it from the water that was spraying up from the lake, and the officiant trimmed his message so everyone didn’t have to stay out in the wind and cold for too long.  But even with the weather, it was a lovely ceremony, and it was truly a wedding that those guests are never going to forget.  Looking back in 30 years time, Joe & Kayla will be able to tell their children “back in our day, we got married and it was windy, and wet, and cold, but we LOVED it!”

After an amazing dinner, we then danced the night away.  This family was so much fun, and it was really a blessing for me to be able to be a part of their special day.  I told Joe how much I appreciated his service for our country, and even joined everyone upstairs at the resort bar for an after-party drink before heading home.

Peter & Jessi’s Wedding – Settlement Hill Farm, Hudson WI

Yay! Another barn wedding!  Having grown up on a farm raising horses, I really like the idea that many of these old barns are being turned into beautiful wedding venues, and Settlement Hill Farm in Hudson WI is no exception.

When I did my client call with Jessi (the Bride) ahead of time to go through the details, I became very excited for this wedding.  It sounded like it was going to be an awesome group of people, and I was not disappointed.  I showed up early to the venue like I normally do, and I was amazed to find that the parents of the Bride had home-brewed over 170 bottles of wine of various varieties.  I wasn’t able to partake in the wine during the reception (I never drink while DJing), but they did send me home with 2 bottles of wine at the end of the night and they were DELICIOUS!

The downstairs dining room of the barn was BEAUTIFUL, and they had some gorgeous woodwork done around the bar, it was a very “rustic chic”.  When we brought the party upstairs to the loft for the dancing, we rocked the house!  I can’t believe we fit that many people into that hayloft of the barn, but everyone was dancing, and partying, and no one wanted to stop at the end of the night.

 

Tony & Sara’s Wedding at BayView Event Center, Excelsior MN

This is my first time at BayView Event Center, and it is an awesome venue, the staff were wonderful and the ceremony down by the docks was beautiful.  Tony & Sara were married on the shore of Lake Minnetonka, and then we had an excellent dinner and this crowd really liked to dance.  Instead of doing a typical garter toss, they opted to do a garter auction, and I was the auctioneer.  We had a bit of fun with that as the sorority sisters and fraternity brothers got into a bidding war against each other for the garter.

I played pretty much non-stop guest requests all night and the crowd was loving it.  The energy on the dance floor carried through until the very end when the lights came on and we had to stop.

Shannon & Wayne’s Wedding – The Lodge at Giants Ridge, Biwabik MN

After DJing down in the twin cities the night before, I drove all the way up to Biwabik MN to DJ Shannon & Wayne’s weddding at The Lodge at Giants Ridge.  It was a beautiful drive, with the trees turning their fall colors.

It was raining all day, and they were going to have the ceremony outside, but due to the rain, we relocated the ceremony inside, right where we were going to have dinner.  So with all of the guests seated at their tables, they said their “I do’s” right in front of the head table.   After a wonderful dinner, everyone filled the dance floor and we danced the night away.  This was an incredibly fun family, and I had a blast being a part of their day.

David & Shelby’s Wedding – The Orchard in Baldwin WI

David & Shelby had their wedding reception at The Orchard in Baldwin WI.  This was my first time at The Orchard, but it is an amazing venue and has great staff.  I really enjoyed working with them to make sure that David & Shelby’s reception was a success.

This was a smaller wedding, so it was more intimate and personal, and very special.  I did a love story for them, and it was great sharing that special moment with everyone.  Later on in the night David surprised Shelby by pulling out his guitar and ‘serenading’ her. He let me know this was what he wanted to do so I made sure to have my extra mixer and cables along to get his guitar set up through my speaker system.

Travis & Jenna’s Wedding – Legends Golf Club in Prior Lake MN

Wedding #2 of a 2-wedding weekend, I travelled all the way down to Prior Lake, MN to the wonderful Legends Golf Club.  This was an amazing venue and the staff was wonderful.  I had DJ Julian with me and we nearly brought down the house!  At the end of the night, the party just did not want to stop.

I accidentally ended up leaving my tuxedo suit coat at Legends Golf Club and had to go back the next day to retrieve it.  Thankfully when I’m DJ’ing in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area I stay with family so I don’t have to drive back to Duluth late at night.

Jeff & Lindsay’s Wedding at Superior Shores Resort, Two Harbors MN

This is wedding #1 of a 2-wedding weekend.  I went up to Superior Shores Resort in Two Harbors MN to DJ Jeff & Lindsay’s wedding.  They had a BEAUTIFUL ceremony out on the shore of lake superior that I ran the sound for.  After the ceremony we had a lovely cocktail hour out on the lawn, followed by an amazing dinner and dancing.  Jeff & Lindsay were such a fun couple, and the guests kept brining me their requests.  We easily had the hottest party in town!

Tim & Kelsie’s Wedding – Spirit Mountain, Duluth MN

Tim & Kelsie’s wedding was so much fun!  I had DJ Julia with me, and the dance floor was packed!  We started the afternoon off by doing sound for their ceremony on the hillside there at Spirit Mountain Ski Resort, and then brought the party inside for dinner & dancing.  We surprised everyone with a custom song for Tim & Kelsie’s first dance, where we had pre-recorded their vows and overlaid them on top of the song they picked for their first dance.

As always, the staff at Spirit Mountain were wonderful, and dinner was most excellent.  The guests really enjoyed the games, such as the “musical chair scavenger hunt”.

Jamie and Sara Wedding – Grand Superior Lodge

Wedding #1 of a 3-wedding weekend!  Jamie & Sara are a great couple, and their family was really fun.  This was a smaller wedding up at Grand Superior Lodge in Two Harbors, MN.  We did the ceremony right outside overlooking Lake Superior, and then had a great party the rest of the night.  There were only 40-45 people at this wedding, but most everybody stayed until the end.
