I have decided…

September 24, 2006 by Aaron

I have decided hat I want to learn Swedish. Part of this comes from my fascination with Saabs, but another reason is because I’ve recently come across some more swedish music which is really awesome!  I found this… The group is BassHunter, he’s a Swedish musician/DJ who makes most of his music on the computer with a program called FruityLoops (a program that I’ve played with myself in the past).

I know people who really like the sound of German, and who learn it because it sounds neat when they speak it. Well I’ve come to the conclusion that swedish sounds just as good, but it’s not as harsh of a language. Plus the fact that I’m mostly Swedish in heritage gives me another reason to learn it.

So now I just need to find a place to learn swedish, and then I can use it as an excuse to travel to Sweden someday.

Call all fixed (well halfway)

I got my car back from the shop yesterday, and the major things are all fixed. Like my o2 sensor, brakes and new exhaust. Here is a picture of my new muffler, aint she pretty?

My car sounds a lot nicer now, doesn’t have the exhaust rattle like it used to. And i’m quite impressed by the new tailpipe, it fits the car beautifully.

Paintball Fun

June 12, 2006 by Aaron

So tonight is Monday. That means Monday night paintball at Pastor Jeff’s house.  Jeff has 20 acres of land up on McQuade rd off of HWY 61 north of Duluth.  Every Monday, a bunch of people get together there and play paintball in his woods.  Tonight, we had about 20 guys, so we had some good sized teams.

During the 3rd game (capture the flag), I was defending our flag.  I was hiding behind it up on a small ridge, shooting down through the trees at the opposing team as they were rushing for the flag.  One of them got a lucky shot and hit me in the face.  Everyone thought it was a Kodak moment, so I grabbed my phone and had some pics snapped.

The ball hit me right in the mouth area, and splattered on through my cheek.  I still have a faint paintball aftertaste.    It definitely was a fun time tonight, I look forward to next week!

Segway Police!

June 12, 2006 by Aaron

Well the other day I was walking to work, and I saw a Duluth Police Officer riding down the street on a segway. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of it at the time, but luckily, when I was leaving work, I saw an officer on the segway again. So I whipped out my phone and took a picture. Well, I thought I did, instead, I ended up taking a short video clip.

Why does the Duluth Police Department waste money on Segways for their officers to ride around on? I have a lot of respect for our police force, but with the city facing bankruptcy, why do they waste money like this? I’d rather see the police riding around on bicycles than segways.

Although I do think that it is an interesting idea, and I look forward to snapping more pics & vids of the segways when I get the chance.

Zoom Zoom

Well, for those that don’t know already, I got a new car recently.  I got a 1997 Saab 900SE Turbo.  She’s a fun ride.

For the longest time, I’ve always told myself that I wouldn’t become a ‘ricer’ and mod out my car.  And to this day, I still tell myself that.  However, I can’t help but think about the performance mods I can do to my car.  I’ve been reading up on my car in some Saab forums, and there is quite a bit I can do to tune my engine better, get more horsepower, and more boost off the turbo.

As it sits, my car can do 130mph easily (book says it can do 143mph), I haven’t pushed her to her limits just yet.  And this is all with the stock 185hp engine.  I can get a nordic kit and upgrade the engine a bit and can get 270hp out of her.  Boy would that be sweet!

So for now, I promise that I will not degrade my car with a wing, or vinyl stickers, or a huge fart tip arse cannon.  Any modifications I do will be for performance.  The only thing I might consider for ‘looks’ is going with Viggen bumpers, or getting a Saab Body kit for it.  But that will come after the engine tune up.
