Hailey and Jeffrey Wedding – Greysolon Plaza, Duluth MN

December 8, 2012 by Aaron

Another beautiful wedding ceremony and reception at Greysolon Plaza in the Moorish Room.  I did the sound for the ceremony, and then reset everything for the reception and dancing.

It was a good crowd, the bride & groom had a pretty big do-not-play list, but I was able to find plenty of good dancing songs to keep everyone dancing and entertained. 🙂

Pro Sound DJ Gala 2012 and DJ of the YEAR!

December 2, 2012 by Aaron

Tonight was the Pro Sound & Light Show DJ Gala 2012, the annual awards banquet and ceremony where they give out bonuses and awards.  I had a lot of fun, exchanging “war stories” with the other DJ’s and having a grand old time.

I did not, however, expect to be awarded DJ of the Year 2012!  I’ve only been working with Pro Sound for 6 months, but I guess I’ve been doing a good enough job and getting raving reviews back from clients.

Here’s to making 2013 as good of a year as 2012 was!

Kailey’s Bat Mitzvah – Flagship Athletic Club

November 24, 2012 by Aaron

This Bat Mitzvah was very fun!  It was at the Flagship Athletic Club in Eden Prairie MN, and there was a good group of kids (and parents) there to celebrate.  Both the kids and the parents had a fun time dancing, and playing games, and we even had a dance-off where some of the parents showed their kids they still could boogie with the best of them!

After the Bat Mitzvah, I was able to meet up with my sister for some drinks since I hadn’t seen her in a while and was in town.

Superior High School Dance

November 10, 2012 by Aaron

I was a little nervous going into this school dance, knowing that there were going to be 600+ students at this dance, and Superior HS has a bit of a reputation for being a rough crowd.  Several songs into the dance, I played a request from some of the girls on the student council (Swing the Mood, a big-band/swing song) and a bunch of kids gave me grief for the song choice, even though half the room was having a grand old time swing dancing away.  This small group sat down, and soon over half of the room was sitting in a sign of protest.  I killed the music, and got on the microphone and said “What?! I’m playing a song that YOU GUYS requested! Stop requesting CRAP then!” and immediately came in HARD into Gangnam Style.

After that, the small group of kids towards the front that started the sit-in were giving me thumbs up, and telling me how awesome I was for playing “good stuff” for them.

The school was a bit nervous about making sure there wasn’t any bump-n-grind going on, so I kept it to a good “clean clubbing” mix.  Building that relationship with the crowd is always tenuous, but once I broke the ice and the kids saw I was actually playing their requests, it was a great night.   The faculty coordinator came up to me afterwards and thanked me for such a successful dance.

Russ & Krissy Wedding – Blackwoods, Proctor MN

October 27, 2012 by Aaron

Blackwoods is really a popular wedding venue this fall!  I’ve DJ’ed a bunch of awesome weddings at Blackwoods, and this one was no exception!

The entire wedding party showed up wearing classy masks and the room had a fall/harvest halloween theme.  It was really cool, and like usual, the dance floor was PACKED!

I really need to start taking pictures of the weddings I do!

Chad and Anna Wedding – Greysolon Plaza, Duluth MN

October 20, 2012 by Aaron

This was such a lovely wedding reception.  The Greysolon Plaza Moorish Room was exquisite, dinner was excellent, and everyone had a great time.

Chad & Anna had some special requests and I made sure that I took care of them and everything went smoothly.

New DJ Mixer – American Audio VMS4.1

October 16, 2012 by Aaron

I ordered a new American Audio VMS4.1 DJ mixer, and it arrived today!  I’m so excited to start using it and improving the quality of the gigs I do.

It’s a 4-channel midilog mixer, which means that when plugged into the computer, I can have 4 separate audio channels coming out, or I can flip a switch on each individual channel and convert it to an analog channel to mix sound from a CD player, iPod, turntable, etc.

Jake & Anna Wedding – Blackwoods, Proctor MN

October 13, 2012 by Aaron

2 weddings at Blackwoods in Proctor in the same weekend!   This was a large group, and the room was packed during dinner.  We had to tear down some tables to make room for the dance floor, and once the dancing started, this crowd went wild!

I played some fun games with the guests, and both Jake and Anna told me afterwards how happy they were to have me DJ their wedding.

Here is what they said on my comment form that Pro Sound sent them afterwards:

Aaron was great and able to quickly adapt to what the situation was. Guests have been telling us what a great reception it was – Aaron gets all the credit! Thank You!

Grant and Sabrina Wedding – Blackwoods, Proctor MN

October 11, 2012 by Aaron

Another great evening at Blackwoods!  Sabrina and Grant have such fun families, the entire crowd was a blast to interact with.  It wasn’t hard to keep the dance floor packed all night!

Jared and McKenzie Wedding – The Barn, Alexandria MN

October 6, 2012 by Aaron

I believe this is the farthest I have travelled for a wedding to date, 4-hours away from home!  The Barn (Holiday Inn) in Alexandria is a cute barn style venue, and it was pretty classy when I showed up to get set up.

Dinner was excellent, and the entire bridal party looked sharp!  Jared & McKenzie both said they had an awesome time and the dance floor was packed all night long.  I even did 2 encore songs at the end of the night, and they wanted to keep going for another hour, but the venue staff shut the party down.

Rather than drive back all night, I stayed at a buddies place who lived 30 minutes away, and I drove back in the morning.
